My FAVORITE winery in the entire Napa Valley!

by LeilaniSouzaDotCom

It's all about the wine...and V. Sattui has my FAVORITE wines in the entire Napa Valley area! I've been coming here for years and just love many of their different varieties, most of all their Gamay Rouge, Muscat and Riesling (yes, I favor the sweeter wines) although I also like to sip on their Madeira...it goes great with chocolate!

Yes, it's crowded...but it's so worth it. Love the beautiful building and site and the mature oaks with picnic tables (note to self: don't wear shorts, remember...dirty benches) provide shade on those hot summer days.

Love the cheese selection from their deli, and although I did not like any of their barbecue food AT ALL (yucky and overpriced), I still have to give them 5 stars because, well...it's all about the wine!

  • Pros: Gamay Rouge, Muscat, Riesling
  • Cons: Crowded on weekends, BBQ food

An absolute must for any Napa trip. Great desert wines, you can get lunch, cheap/free tastings.

The laws in Napa valley are strange and numerous. One of these laws is that wineries cannot sell food...except for V. Sattui. And because of this, V. Sattui can afford to have some of the cheapest wine tastings around. At one point a basic tasting was free, but that may have changed. It doesn't matter because it's always worth the money to buy the $10 tasting that lets you try more wines including their muscat blend called "Angelica", and their Madeira. In my opinion, these are their best two offerings. My girlfriends family has a rule that anytime anyone makes a trip to Napa, they MUST buy 6 bottles of Madeira (the maximum number you can buy) so that you can sell it to the rest of the family. Like most of the wineries in Napa, you can't get their wine in stores only at the winery. They're most known for their Gamay Rouge, (a rose wine that somehow tastes like strawberry juice). However, I find this always tastes significantly better at the tasting than it does in the bottle. The food is pretty good, but more importantly you don't have to sacrifice a trip to a winery in order to get lunch. This may be my favorite overall winery ever.

  • Pros: Cheap tastings, great desert wines, FOOD AT A WINERY!
  • Cons: Go early or late to avoid lunch crowd. Bathroom only has hand blower, no towels

My Favorite Place!

V. Sattui makes me wish I was a wine-drinker. I love the atmosphere of this place. My husband and I go for the Keifer cheese and the other items in the deli.

My Favorite Winery

by lord_humongous

Every time my girlfriend and I go to Napa we have to stop at V. Sattui. This is my favorite wine that I have found so far. And how can you beat free wine tasting? Plus, it's a great place to sit and have a picnic.

  • Pros: Great Wine, Good Service

Wine Tasting with Heart

by fnccaligirl

What a place to really take Napa Valley in. Sattui is not only great to taste wine at, they also have a fresh deli and market and an area outside to picnic at. My boyfriend from NY, thought he had died and gone to heaven when we landed here! The tasting is extra uniqe b/c you order your tastes off a menu, rather than the typical tasting of a fixed menu.

Perfect Place for a Picnic

by pointpleasant

When you're ready to take a lunch break, this is a great place to stop. The mini-market has a fine selection of treats to help clear your head from all of the wine tasting you've already undoubtedly done. We bought some thai pasta salad, some cheese and bread and sat ourselves outside at one of the numerous picnic tables. One catch - you may not bring food or wine from other places. Luckily, this place has it all and you will neither go hungry nor thirsty.

  • Pros: picnic area, variety
  • Cons: very crowded
