Tips for Spinelle Fine Jewelers

October 08, 2010

Cracked Diamond 1/3. I bought my girlfriend of 9 years and now fiancé her engagement ring in December of 2009. I found her ring at Grace’s Jewelers in San Francisco. I asked her to marry me in a hot air balloon above the strip in Las Vegas on February 1st of 2010 (our 9 year anniversary). After wearing the ring for a couple months she had noticed that some of the side stones were loose. She told me and we decided to get it fixed. My mom had recommended Spinelle Jewelers because they had done good work for her in the past. It was closer than San Francisco because my fiancé and I were both living in Santa Rosa and working in Napa. I stopped by and asked the jeweler Lori if they could tighten up the side stones on the ring. She then put the diamond under the microscope and let me know that the side stones on the other side were loose as well. I just wanted to get the ring fixed and done right because it was the most important and expensive thing I have ever bought. So, I told her do whatever tightening that needed to be done. She wrote me up a claim ticket and got my information and away I went.

The very next day I received a phone call (1st) from the jeweler telling me that she did not like the design of the setting and that we should probably replace it with thicker prongs which were sturdier. I was all for this and agreed thinking that the ring would be better. We didn’t hear from the jeweler for about two weeks or so.

When the claim tickets due date rolled around I thought I would give the jeweler a call (2nd) and see what the progress on the ring was. She said it was almost done; I still wasn’t worried and told her to take her time because there was no rush. She said something to the effect that you’re not the one missing it and we both chuckled.

On July 2nd she called me (3rd call) to ask permission to set the diamond, which I gave, and to inform me that she was setting the diamond. In addition she said could pick up the ring later that day. She also mentioned that she was leaving that afternoon for a weeklong vacation. This conversation lasted 2 minutes according to my phone records.
