Tips for Trancas Dental Group

The Worst and the Best. When I started with Trancas Dental Group it was because it was the only dentist my retirement insurance would accept. This was 11 years ago when I retired early to care for my father, who has since died. This town is full of low income and retired people, so it is unbelieveable that this is the only dentist. Anyway, I had a great dentist in the beginning, followed by an inept, non-caring one, then a fair one. This has gone on for all this time. During 11 years I have had 2 dentist that were acceptable. It seems that young dentists come right after graduation, or they work here after retiring from their own practice. You find a dentist you like, make a treatment plan, and come back after a few months and they are gone and procedures change yet again...I just got done having a new upper denture done, this being my 3rd one. I have never had one done the way that they did this one. It ended up looking like someone made it out of play doh, and was told since it was not falling out it was fine. I am do to have an extraction done at another office, as they do not do extractions and then come back to have a partial done..Very scarey to have them do the lower partial after my mouth is full of a giant wad of play doh.

This does not even cover the lack of professionalism and the scattered way they run the office. This last time I had my teeth cleaned (I only have lower teeth) she forgot to clean them all. Just stopped and walked out..

Months ago I was there for a cleaning and they put me in a room. I waited and waited for hours...They had left for lunch...When the hygenist was contacted to come and do me, she was angry because her lunch had been interupted. Another less than gentle cleaning.

I could go on and on with things that have happened over the last 11 years, but in closing- Do not go to this dentist. You deserve to be treated with respect and to know that you are in capable hands. These hands are NOT!!!!!!

Worst possible dental experience. My insurance only covers this local dental group, so I thought I had no choice. Dring the first visit I was subjected to repeated x rays and then told I, like other patients who've written reviews, needed a deep cleaning for $700 out of pocket. I had the procedure which was a joke as I've had the procedure once before in SF, where it took hours and much numbing medication. This was just a teeth cleaning. I agree with all negative reviews; these people are unprofessional and should be thrown over the side.

not impressed. After full set of dental x-rays, I was seen by a dentist for approx. 3-4 min., then passed on to a front desk employee to discuss the details of my $6,000 estimate to deep clean, and repair my extensive dental problems. The "assistant" couldn't intelligently answer most of my questions. II walked out amazed that this was a legitimate dental office. I'm now in the process of getting a 2nd opinion. No matter what, I will not return to this office.

This dental group seems to be committing fraud. My husband and I went to this group because they take our insurance. They would not clean my husband teeth because they said he had gum desease and needed $7000 of dental work. They did clean my teeth but told me I needed a new crown because mine was leaking and there was decay for $1600 approximately. We went back to our regular dentist who cleaned my husband's teeth and pulled two teeth that were abscesed for $250 and that wall all he needed. He checked my teeth took more x-rays and could not find a crown that was leaking or any decay.

BEWARE OF THIS DENTAL GROUP!

WORST DENTIST IN TOWN!!. Did not have any of my insurance info ready, I waited 30 minutes after paperwork was filled out...

I had scheduled and "exam, x-rays, and teeth cleaning"...

Took x-rays, and did exam, did NOT clean my teeth.. I was told I had "gum disease and needed a "deep cleaning" and doctor refused to give me a regular cleaning, then quoted me a ridiculous price for the "deep cleaning" which my insurance does not cover...

I decided to get a second opinion, and sure enough, NO "gum disease", and my teeth were cleaned right then and there!!!

This office is FILTHY, DISHONEST, and RUDE...

From the receptionist to the doctor, a pathetic excuse for professionals, their license NEEDS to be revoked, period...

People wonder why our counrty is in a resession, busnisses like this one...

Wish I had read the reviews on here first - Stay Away!. I'm used to going to a dental office that verifies my insurance benefits prior to my visit. That was not done. I was in the chair for a total of two hours for x-rays, exam and cleaning. That is generally done in an hour. The clips they used for x-rays were unusually Iarge. It was an extremely uncomfortable experience, one I have not had in the past. I was then told that something was wrong with the x-ray machine and that the x-rays were all botched, and that they couldn't make a proper diagnosis, as a result. Meanwhile, I was recommended to have extra dental work done, supposedly issues that could not be verified on the botched x-ray. My insurance company now would not cover further x-rays within the upcoming year, not to mention I had been exposed to radiation unnecessarily. When I asked for my films back so I could go for a second opnion, I was told to pay $35 - again, for x-rays that were botched. I asked to speak with an office manager ( never got transferred ) I was simply told that's their policy. When your client had been greatly disserviced, perhaps it's time to bend the rules a bit and carefully review the client's complaints. Had I read the previous reviews on here, I would not have chosen this office. Stay clear of this place!!!!

Trancas Dental Group knows dentistry!. The only reason I care to share my experience is because I feel one should make a wise decision when choosing a dental or medical provider. I worked with a top insurance company for 18 years and have had a great experience with Trancas. I have had much dental work performed and all has been professionally explained and treated. I have had no financial quarrels with this office and have only experienced headaches when working with a new insurance company I have recently joined due to my retirement. If you are looking for a cheap dentist who will avoid diagnosing only to keep you coming back...look elsewhere, at Trancas they will look at each tooth and diagnose everything they see to prevent further dental issues.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Poor customer service. Having been to this office three times in the past year, I was dismayed at its lack of professionalism. Obviously I am switching dentists, but I gave these people the benefit of a doubt and was sorely disappointed. Dr. Lee came off as arrogant and inattentive; very condescending and, I thought, unrealistic as to what I can do as a patient lying prone in a chair. (She chastised me for needing to swallow when there was a natural buildup of saliva.) The rest of the staff (especially those working the front desk) came off as unorganized and extremely scattered. They failed to notify me of the complete list of billing options, and on one occasion told me I came in too early for my appointment when that WAS in fact the hour of my appointment. Rude things were also said: they "ambushed" me on what they felt was a poor choice of procedure after the fact (i.e., after my operation was complete). All in all, I have high standards for dentists (don't we all?), and Trancas Dental rates very poorly. DO NOT GO TO TRANCAS DENTAL!

Great service!. I have been a patient of this office for 4 years and have a great relationship with my dentist. The office is located in a convenient location of Napa and are always to accommodate my busy schedule. Great service with clear explanation of treatment. I love the orange chairs!

Worst Dental Experience of my life!. Ok, my experience at Trancas Dental was horrible from start to finish. The receptionist was rude and impersonal (not only to me, I also observed her being impatient and condesending to a gentel old man, who was obviously aggravated by her treatment towards him). While sitting in the waiting room, I could hear the girls in the back talking about the patients...business that was not mine to hear! And I even overheard them making snide remarks about me!

The office itself was not professional, put together sloppily. It was uncomfortable and cold.

Two different girls gave me exrays, not very gently at that.

I was never sure who my dentist was! No body introduced themselves as the dentist, and none of the people were very frinedly or comforting.

I've never had a dental experience where I didn't know who the dentist was!

Save yourself.

This place is easy to get in to...but please take the time and go somewhere else!
