The Background – Mt. Veeder, home of the Hess vineyard, is a gorgeous spot, with lush hillsides much like European wine regions. At 25 square miles, it's the smallest of the Napa Valley appellations. It also has some of the steepest vineyards and most remote wineries in the region. Owner Donald Hess was so taken with Mt. When to Go:
Fall is the best time of year to see the inner workings of the vineyard, as the year's vintage makes its way through the winery.
Save Time:
Wine tasting is available from 10am-4pm.
What to Drink:
The Cabernet Sauvignon tasting is available on most weekends. But reservations are strongly recommended. Tasting fee is $25.
