Classic Calistoga Spa. They only allow hotel guests and those having treatments to use their olympic pool heated by the hot springs. All the ammenities of the 21st century in a 1900's facility. Great that they keep on file the therapists you have had and the type of massage you like. On a nice day, the pool with the easy to get on floating lounge chairs is luxury. The Buddah Pond for before and after the massage is unique and worth speinding the day. Bring your own picnic and you are set for the day. The staff is professional and nice. A great experience with very few kids in the pool. Great for an adult getaway.

FARSE is a good word... This place is for GAMERS and I do mean that they will play with your emotions /your money/ and your time. As far as value HYPE is a good word, and if you need more insight (READ 08/15/2007 Posted by chicagoamanda)

As far as your mud, maybe you should walk around the back of the spa where they dump it after it used, see what you really been sitting in.

INDIAN SPRINGS SPA , CALISTOGA CA. This spa has the best mud bath in Calistoga. I have tried others, but this one takes the cake. For one thing they use the volcanic ash and water to make a thick mud using the geyeser mineral water. They do not add peat moss as do the others. The mud sticks to you much better this way. The mud is hot but not scortching.

Front staff are busy, but pleasant.

Wait times are about 20 min when you walk in.

ONce you get in you get your mud bath treatment and you are attended promptly. The staff makes sure you are comfortable and safe. The steam room was nice and hot with some Eucolyptus scent inside. The big pool in the front is awesome!. Natural mineral water that is warm( T gauge said 102F) and in the cold weather it was welcoming. The blanket wrap at the end of the treatment was nirvana!

This is the place!!

Cheers

Horrible experience!. My husband and I stayed at Indian Springs last week. We were in town for my sister's wedding, and the majority of her wedding guests stayed there. The rooms themselves are ok (nothing special and certainly not worth the price); however, it gets really hot in August and the air conditioners do not work well. Also, there are no phones in the rooms, which we found irritating. (I know they were trying to go for a tranquil spa-like experience, but it was just silly not to have phones...especially considering our room was right off a major road and we heard motorcycles going by all night, making the experience was anything but peaceful!). But our biggest issue with Indian Springs was the service. My husband had to cancel his massage at the last minute due to a serious illness and they absolutely refused to refund even part of the money. I understand 24 hour cancellation policies, but I would think they would make an exception in cases of emergency (especially considering we were part of a giant wedding party, which they were making a ton of money from). To add insult to injury, when I spoke with the manager and very patiently and politely explained the reason for the last minute cancellation, I was met with complete rudeness. She even insinuated we were lying! Do not waste your money. This place is an absolute farce!

One of the prettiest spas in Calistoga, with relaxing baths and comfortable bungalows.. The Scene
Indian Springs is the oldest continuously operating spa in California. Long before Calistoga's original resort was built here in 1860, the local Wapoo Indians used the site for sweat lodges. The main bathhouse was built in 1913 and retains an airy, turn-of-the-century feel. Formery known as Nance's Hotel, its lodge now features 24 rooms, LCD flat screen TVs and private patios.

The Services
Mud baths are the main draw, although the spa also offers facials, body wraps, massages and mineral-water soaks. Boiling mineral water from three thermal geysers on the property is used to heat and sterilize the ancient volcanic ash used for each bath. This ash, which forms a thick, black "mud" when wet, soothes and softens the skin. After treatments, spa visitors are encouraged to splash into the huge, heated outdoor mineral-water pool, complete with floating chaise lounges and water toys.
