Walked to Hydro Grill from our hotel and thought it looked neat from the outside. Had a nice lunch of white macaroni and cheese with ham. It was so good!! Of course we had some great wine and hung around for a while. The staff was great and we were happy we stopped here.

Excellent food and drinks. Enjoyed our time there. However a RED FLAG for one particular male bartender. Paid by charge and left a cash tip. However, when checking the bank's charge itemization, he scammed a tip to the charge. Called and Hydro resolved immediately. Impressed. All good.

I've been visiting Calistoga for years and it is truly one of my very favorite places to go for a relaxing get-a-away weekend. Because there are limited restaurants in town, I like to have breakfast, lunch & dinner at the same restaurant, at different times and visits, to get a good feel for it. I was really disappointed and frankly surprised at both the service and food at the Hydro Bar & Grill. I have been there for breakfast/brunch and it was really good, however dinner was a completely different story. We sat down immediately and ready to start our weekend with a cocktail. We both ordered one of their "specialty" drinks which was their version of a ?Mojito?. It tasted as though it was thrown together without any thought or perhaps I was having an "off" day? One word to the bartender only ? ?muddle?. We ordered lentil soup which was passable at best. It was watery and didn't resemble any type of lentil soup we've ever had. I realize restaurants have different ways of serving but I was surprised that bread, or even crackers weren?t offered. The main courses we ordered were pasta. We waited 45+ minutes before the waiter even told us that the food was "coming out". Once we were served, the food again was nothing really special. I realize this isn?t "Brannan's" but like the drink, the food wasn?t anything I would care to have again and we actually left most of it on our plates. I?d like to think that everyone has their off day but it started out bad and didn?t get better. Sorry Hydro Bar & Grill, I expected much better food and service from you.
