Upscale Mexican fare from two seasoned Napa Valley chefs. – Pablo and Erasto Jacinto gained culinary clout through decades of working with star valley chefs like Cindy Paulson and Michael Chiarello. Now, in the downtown space formerly home to the restaurant Tuscany, the brothers are crafting Mexican cuisine to break from the tacos-and-tamales status quo. Colorful ceramics hold cactuses and cascading foliage throughout the lofty space, while the open kitchen renders it almost bistro-y. Dishes like citrus-marinated halibut with yucca chips or chile verde braised short ribs reflect a regionally eclectic menu. As do tortillas (handmade daily), fruit salsas and four styles of mole. Desserts—Mexican classics with an innovative accent—include roasted pineapple flan and flourless cinnamon chocolate cake.
Don't go ever – You could not pay me to go back to this restaurant. The manager had attitude and kept trying to put everything on the hostess and actually asked me to ask the hostess. I was like, do I work here? At the time did not know he was the manager and was shocked to find out that he was. The owner was there and I told him about my experience. At first he was accommodating, but by this point my experience was ruined. I got my steak, $28.00. Had no flavor and I sent it back. The chef did come to the table with a better dish. The owner didn't come back to check on us at all, and they weren't that busy. He gave us a dessert but it was awful and a total waste. I would have rather had part of my meal comped. I can't believe that I had to pay for that meal and experience. I hope that if you do decide to be brave and go that your experience is decent b/c there is no way that I will EVER go back.
Avoid this restaurant - they're rude and they have no air conditioning – We made reservations here a month in advance. When we showed up, it was 95 degrees in the restaurant. They tried to seat us next to the fire oven in the kitchen. We asked to be moved. Then they sat us at this huge table with flies buzzing all around it. They didn't have the air conditioning on and everyone was sweating bullets. They didn't seem to care about our discomfort. We ended up having to leave without even eating dinner because it was too hot in there to stay. Plus, it took forever for a server to even acknowledge we were there at all. The menu isn't that great to endure all of that!
Great Look, ok food – The location and look were great. The food was fine but not what I expected for Napa. Steak was good but my salad left a fine layer of grit on my teeth. Maybe it was because we arrived close to closing, but the staff seemed more interested in sitting at the bar than "nuking" my fruit cobbler (it had to be nuked because it took 1 minute to get after ordering and did not have a bit of crunch to it). I will think about trying it again (the pizza looked good) but much earlier in the evening!
OUTSTANDING!!! – We came here after walking out of another restaurant because of service. I was impressed from the bartender, to the server, to the manager everything was top notch and we were treated wonderfully. To top off the experience, the food was outstanding. We shared ravioli and filet mignon. They were both excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone dining in downtown Napa. Although it cost more than we were planning on spending that evening. It was worth every penny.
Best Experience in the Valley – We hadn't been to downtown Napa in a long time, and thought we would drive through after our afternoon of wine tasting. We had a great time. the atmosphere is fun, exciting, and all around a great experience. the food was excellenct, and we found the wine list to have a huge variety, with great choices in each section. The menu has a great selection, whether you feel like a pizza, or a gourmet steak. We will make this a regular stop on our valley excursions!
Server Adury is Great! – My wife and I had the best time at Tuscany with our server Adury. The food and wine was amazing! Can't wait to go back.
Ambience alone not enough – The beautiful setting doesn't make up for the ho-hum cuisine. Not bad...just not great, and we were expecting great. The wine list was mediocre, especially considering it's in Napa. Still, the decor is superb and adds to the dining experience.
Dont miss Tuscany – Excellent. Quick service. Delecious food. Nice atmosphere. Reasonable prices. There is nothing else to ask for. We had a recent trip to California and this was the best overall restaurant we ate at in eight days. Try it.
Simply a MUST!! – Tuscany restaurant is with out a doubt the best Italian I have ever had. The menu is quite extensive, offering something for everyone. The appetizer menu is the largest I have ever seen, and do they have some dandies. Dinner was out of this world, followed by a banana desert that will make your mouth drop. Besides the wonderful food, the STAFF was even better. Everyone who was by our table was delightful, always offering a smile. Simply a must!!!!
