An authentic panini shop is the main draw at this gourmet retail cookware store..
Michael Chiarello, the chef/restaurateur turned Food Network superstar, returns to his roots with a Napa installment of his retail empire. Strategically placed behind shelves of fancy crockery, charcuterie samples and cookbooks resides a simple panini cafe. Exposed brick and weathered artwork imbue the high-ceiling space with Tuscan rusticity. An open kitchen, furnished with a behemoth meat slicer and two panini grills, dishes out both cold and hot sandwiches. Highlights include chilled salmon rillettes with tarragon mayonnaise on baguette or slow roasted heritage pork topped with melted fontina cheese. A cold case of artisan cheese, salami, and trademarked spreads caters to the do-it-yourself picnic types.
