Lovely California architecture overlooking the best of the wine country.. The Scene
This Craftsman-style house is nestled in the foothills above the quaint wine country town of Calistoga. Its European owners love to show their guests around their 20 secluded acres, which provide opportunities for hiking, picnicking or just admiring unspoiled hillside or wine country views.

The Details
The house's inner gardens feature a koi pond with water lilies, ancient oak trees and a hot tub. The beautifully situated pool area is clothing-optional. Guests may choose to stay in the 800-square-foot cottage, or in one of the suites, which have French doors and private decks. Featuring private flagstone terraces, the guest rooms combine a mix of contemporary and classic styles. Some of the furniture, such as a minimalist four-poster bed, feels as if it belongs in a modern museum, although there is nothing uncomfortable about these graceful accommodations.
