Editorial Review for Duchamp Hotel – by Kate Washington

The Scene
Duchamp has a handful of sleek villas and cottages named for modern artists, including Picasso and Warhol, and the striking contemporary design of each reflects the style of its namesake. Pat Lenz, co-owner of the establishment with husband Peter, is an artist herself and devotee of the works of Marcel Duchamp. The hotel is convenient to the boutiques and restaurants at the center of town, but you may forget all about sightseeing once you recline in a chaise lounge at the hotel's serene pool.

The Details
Duchamp offers all the creature comforts you'd expect at a posh Sonoma getaway--down comforters, spa-sized showers and the hotel's own sparkling wine cuvee from Iron Horse Vineyards--but with a modern aesthetic that comes as a bit of a surprise in ultra-cozy Healdsburg. A continental breakfast served on the charming terrace enhances the French air of this oh-so chic establishment.

Something you don't get a sense of on the website is that the cottages are renovated old houses. The main property has a pool and modern "villas" lined against it on one side. We stayed in the Warhol cottage, a tiny one-bedroom house converted into a cottage. The bathroom is beyond cool, glass and tiled enclosed and worth the price of admission alone. A small but welcome and functional kitchen, fab bedroom furniture, though the floors creak. We had the most amazing time here- the Warhol suite is a great place to come home to after a a hard day of wine tasting.

Pros: Fab, fab, fab!!!
