The best food and service I have had in Napa. I can't rave enough about this place. The food was great, but the service was exceptional. While the menu can sometimes leave a person with "sticker shock", our waiter encouraged us to share our food, letting us know that it was restaurant policy to do so. My steak was incredibly seasoned--without the chef's using cheap tricks like wrapping it in bacon for flavor--and perfectly cooked to my liking (on the rare side of medium rare). It melted in my mouth. The kids shared meals with one another, and our waiter entertained them enthusiastically (he later told us he was going to school to become an elementary school teacher). The wine list provided a good array of price points and a great sampling of the local potables. The place was a winner in our books.
Superb Experience. Delicious steaks, wonderful sides, great starters and an absolutely fantastic wine list made this a memorable dining experience for our first-ever trip to Napa. The service was extraordinary too. It was pricey, but worth every penny.
Best steaks in Napa Valley. Have eaten here many times and has always been excellent. The only true steak house in Napa Valley.
Real food!. I am a wine country native and enjoy all of the culinary delights that we have available. I have visited Cole's Chop House numerous times and have always found it exactly as I would like a steak house to be - courteous, efficient service; well rounded and reasonably priced wine list; very attractive, old world atmosphere; conceptually simple food with a modern zip; and not a hint of pretention anywhere. Definitely worth a try.
Just Plain Delicious!. Peekytoe crab? You bet, served in a snazzy martini glass along with house-made cocktail sauce. Oysters Rockefeller come to the table bubbling over with cheese and spinach. These are the classics that Cole's adds its own flare to. Entrees are just as straightforward, from grilled-to-order beef or simply prepared filets of seafood, it is tough to disappoint. Paired with fresh asparagus or famous potatoes - this place is one of my favorites for sure.
Frankly, not impressed.. Visited Cole's earlier this week for the first time. Actually made reservation before seeing the exceptional ratings from Zagat and others. Unfortunately, the food absolutely did not live up to our (party of 4) expectations. The Pork Chop was too dry, my 21-day aged steak did NOT live up to it's $39 (!!!) a la carte price and the Stack of Portobello Mushrooms were a bit bland. My mother had the salmon (I believe it was) but obviously enjoyed it since I never got a taste. While it is a great location and the atmosphere was really quite comfortable, I simply expected more from Mr. Cole. I'll return, but I hope to see improvements.
